Logan Square: the square itself

The Logan Square station is a subway stop directly under the square, opened February 1, 1970 when the line was extended out to Jefferson Park; before that, an 1895 elevated terminal stood here. From this platform the schedule puts the Loop 14 minutes away and O'Hare 28. It had 1.5 million entries in 2025.

What it is like

The square is the three-way meeting of Milwaukee Avenue, Logan Boulevard and Kedzie Boulevard, and in the middle stands the Illinois Centennial Monument: a marble Doric column topped by an eagle, built in 1918 by Henry Bacon, the architect of the Lincoln Memorial. The boulevards and squares around it are a National Register historic district and a Chicago Landmark. The housing is greystones and big bungalow-style houses on the boulevards, brick two-flats and three-flats on the side streets, and the restaurants and bars of Milwaukee Avenue at the door.

Zillow Home Value Index for July 2026, the typical value of a middle-tier home: Logan Square $564,017 (+9.5% in a year). About $170,000 under Wicker Park for a train ride that is a few minutes longer.

Getting around

Blue Line, 24 hours a day. The 56 Milwaukee, 76 Diversey and 93 California buses stop on the square. The Kennedy's Kimball and Diversey ramps are close.

Parks and schools

Kosciuszko Park, dedicated in 1916 at Diversey and Pulaski, is the big neighborhood park on the northwest side of the community area; Palmer Square is a few blocks south along Kedzie, and Humboldt Park's 197 acres, lagoons and boathouse are a mile south.
