Rosemont: the edge city

Rosemont is the Blue Line's busiest station outside Chicago, at River Road and I-190 in the village of Rosemont, seven blocks from the airport. It opened February 27, 1983 as River Road, designed by Murphy/Jahn, served as the end of the line for a year until O'Hare opened, and was renamed in the mid-1990s. The schedule puts the Loop about 36 minutes away. There are 798 parking spaces and a Pace bus hub, including the I-90 Express to Schaumburg and Elgin. It had 1.25 million entries in 2025.

What it is like

Rosemont is small, 3,952 people in the 2020 census, incorporated in 1956, and most of its land is the highway interchange, hotels and office buildings that make it a major commercial center on the region's Golden Corridor. It has the Allstate Arena, home of the Chicago Wolves, the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center and the Rosemont Theatre, and corporate headquarters including US Foods and the Big Ten Conference. Housing here is a small residential village behind the towers, plus the condominium and townhome market that serves people who work at the airport and in the office corridor.

Zillow Home Value Index for July 2026, the typical value of a middle-tier home: Rosemont as a village $406,044 (+12.9% in a year), the biggest one-year rise of any figure in this guide, on a very small number of homes. Des Plaines next door is $360,725 (+6.4% in a year); Park Ridge is $595,303 (+8.7% in a year).

Getting around

Blue Line 24 hours a day, straight to the airport in minutes and to the Loop without changing trains. Rosemont also has a station on Metra's North Central Service, weekdays between Antioch and Union Station. The Kennedy, I-190 and the Tri-State meet here.

Parks and schools

Rosemont Elementary School District 78 runs Rosemont Elementary; high school students go to East Leyden in Franklin Park, and parts of the area served by Des Plaines District 62 feed Maine West.
